Ndu Council has once again demonstrated its commitment to inclusive development by supporting 15 disabled pupils and children of parents living with disabilities with school fees. The support, provided on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, brought joy and relief to beneficiaries and their families, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Mayor and council authorities for what they described as a life-changing intervention.
For many of the parents and children, the assistance represents more than financial relief; it is renewed hope and motivation to pursue education despite social and economic challenges. Beneficiaries pledged to work harder in their studies, determined to justify the confidence placed in them by the council.
Speaking to In-Depth News, the Mayor of Ndu Council explained that the initiative is not a one-off gesture, but part of a broader, well-defined inclusive development policy. According to him, Ndu Council’s annual action plan deliberately prioritizes people living with disabilities, minority groups, and other vulnerable populations.
“Our council runs an inclusive program that takes care of the needs of persons living with disabilities and the less privileged,” the Mayor said. “This school fees support is simply the execution of a program we implement every year to ensure vulnerable children have access to education.”

He noted that beyond school fees, Ndu Council has in the past supported children living with disabilities through scholarships and the provision of school needs. Some of the current beneficiaries, he added, are themselves children of persons living with disabilities, making support from both public institutions and society at large even more critical.
On the selection process, the Mayor revealed that the council maintains an updated database of persons and children living with disabilities within the municipality. This database, reviewed annually, enables the council to identify those in urgent need. A designated focal point for persons living with disabilities at the council works closely with affected families, ensuring continuous engagement and accurate information.
Transparency and accountability, the Mayor stressed, remain central to the program. Beneficiaries are selected from villages across all four zones of Ndu Subdivision, in line with the council’s policy of equitable representation. The council also collaborates closely with associations of persons living with disabilities, which provide guidance and additional verification.

Despite financial and administrative challenges, the Mayor gave firm assurances that inclusive development will remain a priority. He disclosed that the needs of persons living with disabilities are systematically captured in the council’s annual budget, complemented by partnerships with NGOs and the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Ndu Council’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. Recently, the council received national recognition from the Ministry of Social Affairs as the most inclusive council in Cameroon, a distinction that further validates its commitment to leaving no one behind.
As the beneficiaries return to school with renewed confidence, Ndu Council’s latest gesture stands as a powerful reminder that inclusive governance can transform lives and strengthen communities.
